Announcement of Consultation on Changes to the CME CF Real Time Index Methodology

The Administrator is launching a consultation on proposed changes to the CME CF Real Time Index Methodology. The proposed amendments to the methodology will affect the following Real Time Indices:

  • CME CF Bitcoin Real Time Index (BRTI)
  • CME CF Ether-Dollar Real Time Index (ETHUSD_RTI)
  • CME CF Solana-Dollar Real Time Index (SOLUSD_RTI)
  • CME CF XRP-Dollar Real Time Index (XRPUSD_RTI)

Summary of Proposed Methodology Changes

The proposed methodology changes mean that product providers that replicate or utilize the CME CF Real Time Index Methodology and affected Real Time Indices may need to factor the changes into their processes and products when transacting in instruments that are linked to the index. The financial value of contracts, instruments and funds that directly reference or are settled using this index may be impacted by the proposed changes.

Implementation Timeline

The Administrator proposes to implement the changes to the CME CF Real Time Index Methodology at approximately 10:00 London time on May 18th, 2026.

Consultation Process

The consultation will begin on April 24th, 2026, and end on May 08th, 2026, at 16:00 London time. All responses will be treated confidentially in accordance with the Administrator’s policies and procedures. The consultation will be supervised by the CME CF Oversight Committee, in accordance with UK BMR.
